Julia Barnes-Weise President, BioMatch

Julia Barnes-Weise, President and founder of BioMatch, has many years of experience in the biopharma industry and in business development. She was most recently Director of Business Development at Glaxo Wellcome Inc., where she negotiated numerous license, development, and marketing agreements.

Before entering the pharmaceutical industry, Ms. Weise worked in the software industry at SAS Institute, and as General Counsel for GeoBased Systems. She negotiated and drafted international and domestic software licenses and alliance agreements.

Ms. Weise’s educational background includes a Juris Doctor degree from the University of North Carolina, a year at the Notre Dame London Law Centre in London, England studying international trade law, a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Ohio Wesleyan University, a program at Duke University’s Fuqua Business School in International Marketing Leadership, and numerous strategic alliance and licensing courses.

She was founding co-chairman of the Licensing Executive Society’s Strategic Alliance Committee, and member of the Health Care Committee, and has spoken at numerous licensing conferences. Ms. Weise is also on the board of Synergy Vaccines and LeukoMed Inc.
